It’s match-day again and this time the Saltmen travel back down the M5 to the charming South Gloucestershire town of Thornbury.

Sadly for headline writers everywhere, the club chose the nickname ‘The Thorns’ but then again I suppose if they had chosen ‘The Prickles’ it would invited smutty juvenile snickering of the sort we here at FTS frown upon. So, well done to them. They are also doing quite well on the field, too. Having finished last season in 17th place, they currently sit second in the table with 22 points taken from 10 games.

The Mundy Playing Fields is a decent place to watch football too, with plenty of cover for standing and seated spectators. There is plenty of car parking space available in the field next to the ground. The clubhouse is nice and, for the dehydrated travelling Saltmen, the bar is significantly cheaper than the frankly mind-blowing prices we (well, Jaddy G) were charged in a nearby pub, last season.

Thornbury is one of the easier away games to get to, being only 60 minutes drive from the Spa. It would be good to see another great turnout from Salt Nation. Spa are due to get the rub of the green having hit the woodwork more often than a blind chippy. With the new look side now starting to click I reckon the lads could turn the tables this evening and make strides up the table. They could use your support!
