The Saltmen play their home opener at Kingys this evening as they renew acquaintances with Cinderford Town.
It’s fair to say that the men from the Forest of Dean had the better of last season’s encounters. A ding dong meeting in Cinderford ended in a goalless draw but the dung dung reverse fixture saw Town win by four goals lucky (obviously) goals to nil in their first visit to Kingys.
Both sides go into the fixture looking to pick up their first points of the season, following narrow defeats away from home on Saturday. The Foresters were unable to claw back a two goal half time deficit at division new boys, Bradford, while Spa lost by a single goal at Roman Glass.
This will be the second game in a spell of three in six days for Spa. Let’s hope they can pick up a confidence inspiring victory to take into Friday’s FA cup game against Dudley Town.
