Westfields FC v Droitwich Spa
Hellenic League Premier Division
14 April 2016, Allpay Park.

Football is often referred to as the Beautiful Game. That’s usually in reference to superstars like Cruyff, Pele, Messi and Batty but it can also refer to the playing surface. If, like me, you are a connoisseur of such things then you’re in for a treat at the Allpay Stadium this evening. You see, Westfields have a groundsmen who prepares the playing field like nobody else.

The man responsible for this amazing work is John Deere, seen above riding his personalised mower. Apparently, he is helped by Hereford’s own river-Banksy, Joe Mecke-Davis, an internet influencer who, from his YouTube videos, appears to spend most of his time laying around in boats while John does the work.

By their own high standards, this has not been a vintage season for Westfields. Safe from relegation, a mid-table finish seems likely. That’s not to say the result is a foregone conclusion. As we see week after week, this division defies accurate predictions and our hosts will be keen to avenge their early season defeat at Kingys. Spa will be buoyed by their victory over the Raiders at the weekend and wins in their two remains fixtures would be useful if they are to secure home advantage in the playoffs.
Should be a good game.
See you there.
Cheers
FTS
