Racing Club Warwick v Droitwich Spa
Saturday 2nd August 2025, Kick off 15.00.
Townsend Meadow, Hampton Road, Warwick CV34 6JP
So here we are. Perhaps the biggest day so far in the story of Droitwich Spa FC. The club’s debut in the world’s best known domestic knockout competition, the FA Cup!
Five years ago, the club was groundsharing at Stourport while Kingys was being transformed into one of the best facilities you will find at Step Five. Last season’s championship winning exploits mean the club now qualify to join the long road to Wembley.

Townsend Meadow. The fabled white grass of the neighbouring racecourse can be seen in the distance.
Today’s trip to face Step four Racing Club Warwick has generated a great deal of interest in the town. The club’s debut has attracted two visits from BBC Television. On Thursday the club was featured on Midlands Today. This morning it will be the subject of Mike Bushell’s sports report on BBC Breakfast, after he spent most of Wednesday in the town. The highlight may well be Lewis Phillips’ singing of “Oh when the Spa go marching in.” Certainly won’t harm his chances of getting another Following The Saltmen Man of the Match award.
Our hosts will definitely be tough opponents. Six months ago the two clubs were two steps apart in the pyramid. The gap has narrowed but the difference in league status will make Warwick firm favourites to progress to the next round against the winner of the Lye Town v Hereford Pegasus tie. But the Saltmen have a history of beating higher ranked teams and as we know, anything can happen in a cup tie!
See you there.
Cheers
FTS
